Palm Springs Modernism Week
/by Megan ReillyFebruary in Palm Springs! For design aficionados, there’s no better time to visit. And for all our friends getting pummeled with snow on the East Coast, it’s not too late to consider a quick trip for Palm Springs Modernism Week.
This celebration of mid-century modern design runs February 16-26, and seems to keep getting bigger and better. With 10+ design-packed days and nights of cocktail parties, exhibitions, lectures, films, expos, home tours, and much more, there’s no shortage of options to choose from. Below, we’ve outlined a few highlights that are on our hit list this coming weekend.

2016 Christopher Kennedy Compound
Screen Style Panel & Reception presented by SDSA
For year #2, WestEdge is pleased to be a partner of the Set Decorators Society of America (SDSA) February 18 event “Screen Style: Creating Narrative Spaces on Film and Television”. With the 2017 Oscars right around the corner, we’re excited to meet and hear from some of Hollywood’s most talented set decorators who help create the movie magic. Cathy Whitlock, author of “Designs on Film: A Century of Hollywood Art Direction” moderates a discussion with set decorators Halina Siwolop SDSA (“Masters of Sex”) and Gene Serdena SDSA (“Passengers”). Tickets are available here.
Christopher Kennedy Compound
Always a top highlight of Modernism Week, The Christopher Kennedy Compound is not-to-be-missed. Sponsored by Traditional Home and California Home + Design magazines, the house brings together nearly 20 of the nation’s most prominent tastemakers to create unique rooms in this decorator showcase house. The project is brought to life by Chairish, Thermador, Ferguson, DuPont, Eggersmann USA cabinetry and more than three dozen other local and national design resources.
The Red Carpet Gala is this Saturday and Christopher Kennedy has offered friends of WestEdge a special ticket offer. Use promo code CWMW17 for 20% here.
